Mr Ram explained the importance of government connecting to public through online media and various ideas they implemented.

As a first step they got a good success in setting up a Facebook page for Chennai Traffic Police where user can post content and comments. You can also get traffic updates directly from control room.

These are the strategies that one should follow for promoting a website globally:

  • Separate websites or sub folders for Multilingual or Multiregional Targeting
  • Use ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domains).
  • Define Geo targeting in webmaster tools
  • Create multilingual content for different regions. Don’t Translators the same content as it some times mis-lead the users
  • Update Google Place Listings with correct local information


4. Benedict Hayes – Follow the Google Mission



Ben gave awesome presentation on the Online marketing strategies covered lot of topics here are some of them.

  • Impeccability of Google algorithm, Why should we stop fighting with it and make our sites Google Friendly.
  • Meta Descriptions should be framed in such a way that we meet our users requirement instead of stuffing keywords in it. Which improves the CTR of the organic result and reduce the bounce rate.
  • Explained the structure of the site should be hierarchal architecture required by Google
  • Discussion of Importance of using dates for news websites
  • Importance of Rich snippets (microdata, microformats, and RDFa) 3
  • Importance of Google+ Page and +1 for brands and how it going to affect us in the future
  • Explained the importance of building links to the internal pages so that it ‘passes up’ the pagerank juice to the top level domain
  • Impact of Rel=’Next’ Rel=’Perv’ in Google Page Indexing.

5. Siby Kuriakose – Importance of Display Ads.

Siby presented the origin of internet and Google AdWords in a small presentation and made a point that Display ads are making more impact on the user rather that normal text ad.

Ending his speech he made an announcement that Cognizant technologies is going to enter in the Digital Marketing Agency business sector.

This brings us to the end of very interesting speeches.
